celebrating with timeless elegance
Allison DeMore wed Ryan Johnson on December 1, at Brophy Chapel, a historic site built in 1928 for students of the Brophy High School. The ornate Spanish Colonial chapel was a natural choice for the couple: “It seems so untouched by the modern world and we love the history that the Chapel held for our family,” says Allison, whose parents married there more than thirty years ago.
The bride wore an elegant strapless gown of embroidered satin, her cathedral-length veil trailing behind her as she walked up the aisle to meet her groom, who wore a traditional black tuxedo. There were five attendants on each side as they exchanged their vows.
The couple’s reception at Sanctuary at Camelback Mountain was one of the early decisions in the planning process. “It seems so serene and elegant, and the view is amazing!” says Allison. They especially enjoyed the tastings, during which they selected a dinner of grilled halibut and filet mignon for their guests.
Allison describes the décor: “The dining room was dressed in all black, with white tulip and hydrangea centerpieces and tea lights spread throughout. The black tablecloths were topped with cream plates and black napkins, tied with a black and cream striped ribbon. Everything was so twinkly and gorgeous... ven the champagne had “razzcherries” floating in the glasses!” Dessert featured a beautiful cupcake tower surrounded by votive candles.
Allison notes that two of her favorite moments of their reception were music-related: their first dance, to ‘Something’ by the Beatles, and . . . their wedding crasher. She explains: “Our good friend Adam Agee of Stellar Kart was able to swing by after finishing his concert at a local venue, and sang for us ‘Faithfully’ by Journey. It was surely a moment that no guest could forget, and Ryan and I will cherish that song forever.”
