to Phoenix and we thought
it was the perfect location to
bring all of our friends and
family together,” beams new
bride Jennifer Olson Westbrook, whose September wedding
took place at Sanctuary at Camelback mountain.
Jennifer and Tim’s wedding weekend began with a
catered Friday night barbeque at their home. Guests arrived
by trolley cars, which the couple had rented for the occasion.
In a celebration that was designed to be “fun and intimate,
“the couple wrote their own vows and kept to the
tradition of not seeing each other prior to the wedding.
Tim’s uncle served as officiant, adding special meaning to
the ceremony. Each was flanked by eight attendants.
The ballroom was decorated in shades of black and
white, with extraordinary centerpieces of crystal and acrylic,
enhanced by the glow of candlelight. The guests’ dining
tables, draped in custom linens, were named after European
cities that the couple had visited during their courtship.
After dining on a meal of filet mignon and sea bass, the
couple was ready to dance the night away.
“Tim and I took dance lessons for our first dance,” explains
the bride. “Along with the traditional father/daughter
and mother/son dances, we also had a sibling dance.” Jennifer
danced with her brother, and Tim’s sisters took turns
dancing with the groom.
Preparation for the reception wasn’t limited to dance
lessons. As a surprise to Tim, Jennifer took singing lessons
for six months prior to their wedding. “I serenaded him at
the reception with the song ‘the Luckiest’ by Ben Folds.”
The surprised groom still cites the song as one of the most
memorable moments of the wedding.
In between dance numbers, guests were treated to an
elaborate selection of candies displayed in glass jars, and a
photo booth was provided to capture the candid moments
of the evening.
