Pure Romance
A modern day fairytale took place on the occasion of Tisa McCay's marriage to Joshua O'Neil. Great care was taken in managing every romantic detail, from the hand-delivered invitations, each bearing a fresh cymbidium orchid, to the 9-foot-tall wedding cake.
Wearing a gown custom-tailored in Greece, the bride and her father arrived at the ceremony by horse and carriage. The wedding gazebo was adorned with dewy fresh hydrangea, orchids, roses and lilies, while the lagoon in the background featured a pair of swans brought in for the day. As guests were seated, they were given programs that included a linen handkerchief. Doves took flight when the couple was pronounced husband and wife.
The reception included an open-air cocktail hour, complete with custom lounge furnishings in pure white. Coordinating purple velvet pillows were embroidered with the bride and groom's monograms, their dogs' names and other special phrases. In honor of the bride's favorite color, lighting around the resort was changed to purple for the evening.
Once inside the ballroom, guests were treated to an elegant and opulent setting. Beginning with silver-gray carpeting underfoot, and extending to floor-to-ceiling velvet draping with a white chiffon overlay, the scene was set for a special celebration. A custom chiffon ceiling treatment was created with a double crystal and orchid chandelier as the focal point over the dance floor.
A combination of square and round tables were used to create an intimate feel. Special glow boxes were placed under each of the tables to create a soft purple glow when the lights were dimmed. Floral arrangements of deep purple hydrangea, white roses, orchids and lilies adorned with cut crystals, extended the romantic mood. White leather dining chairs were tied with chiffon and fresh cymbidium orchids, while the tables were set with hand-made linens and china and stemware specially chosen for the occasion.
Following the Italian Mediterraean dinner, guests were treated to a Salsa dance lesson. At that time, the lighting in the room turned to a festive red. While the dancing was certainly a draw, the centerpiece of the reception was the dramatic wedding cake, which towered over the couple. As guests watched the cake cutting, the opposite side of the ballroom was turned into a dessert bar.
At the evening's close, each guest received a hand-made Italian biscotti with the bride and groom's names and wedding date.
