Paradise Found
Canadians Scott and Stephanie literally searched the world over for the perfect wedding locale.
They traveled from their home in Toronto to the Bahamas, Miami and even Italy, “never finding that perfect 'feel' we were looking for.” When the pair came to Arizona, they instantly knew they had found that special something at the Royal Palms Resort and Spa.
Their wedding theme was “Spanish Romance,” which featured candlelight and soft colors throughout the celebration. They fell in love with the resort's Palmera Room, for its “rustic feel,” and also for its name. “The name of my grandmother, so we absolutely had to get married there,” explains Stephanie.
Selecting the perfect blooms for their reception turned out to be “by far the most challenging piece of the wedding,” says the bride, who ultimately chose ivory arrangements so as to not compete with the already beautiful decor of the Palmera Room. Angelic Grove brought their floral artistry to the bride's vision.
The destination wedding began with a Thursday night “Denim and Diamonds” party at the JW Marriott Camelback Inn. “Guests dressed up in their best country gear and enjoyed an over-the-top outdoor cookout, featuring Mariachi bands and customized giftbags for each guest.” Explains Stephanie, “This was an outstanding way for our guests to meet one another.”
On Friday, the men enjoyed a golf tournament complete with personalized golf balls, while the ladies were invited to share a day at the spa. “All of the pre-activities helped to create a real bond between our guests by Saturday afternoon.”
By the time Stephanie and Scott exchanged vows, their guest list of more than 100 people felt like a gathering of old friends—including the wedding professionals who assisted with the event. “A major highlight to our event was our photographers,” says Stephanie, “Katrina and Andrew were so incredibly warm and helpful that we were thrilled not only to have them shoot our wedding but to be a part of our big day!”
