One Enchanted Evening
The beauty of the Southwest is at its peak in the springtime, and the promise
of a gorgeous day of love and renewal was fulfilled at the wedding of Michele Klein and Dennis Bence this past April.
Exhanging vows on the flagstone patio of the Sanctuary Resort and Spa on Camelback Mountain, the pair were sure to include cultural traditions brought from each of their families. A Hawaiian lei ceremony honored the groom's Samoan background and his childhood in Hawaii. "We also included the Jewish tradition for the groom to break a glass, which highlighted [my] heritage," explained Michele. "These beautiful traditions brought love and respect to our ceremony."
The reception began with a cocktail hour and appetizers on the terrace, while the Allegro Quartet provided a musical backdrop. Says Michele," The Arizona sunset did not let us down, it was warm and clear and more mesmerizing than ever before."
Dinner was served in an indoor ballroom decorated with spectacular floral displays of ivory roses and orchids, complemented with votive candles, which, as the bride recalls, "twinkled in the room like a sky filled with diamonds." Black and ivory decor throughout the room was further enhanced by the gift boxes filled with decadent chocolates set at each place setting. The gourmet meal included spinach salad with mustard viniagrette, rosemary-grilled filet of beef, and pan-seared sea bass. A three-tiered chocolate cake with white butter cream adorned with hydrangea and white roses capped off a delicious and romantic meal."
The highlight of the evening was the authentic Samoan dance group, which was a complete surprise to our family and friends," says Michele. After the groom performed the traditional Wedding Dance, the guests joined in the fun by perfoming a hula. Entertainment also included a DJ, who kept the crowd on the dance floor for the remainder of the evening.
