Sedona Surprise!
with Margaret Van Damme
Bare wood tables overflowing with florals in vintage glass bottles set the tone for a rustic-yet-refined celebration at the Dancing Apache Lodge in Sedona. Carefully chosen flowers, including roses, bittersweet vine, delphinium, lavender and Queen Anne's lace, give that just-picked wildflower look, beautifully balancing the vintage lace table runners and alternating china patterns.
We are in love with the vineyard at this location, not only for its gorgeous photo ops but also for its European atmosphere. Margaret Van Damme styled this shoot, envisioning "the kind of laid-back charm where family and friends would want to sit around, drink fine wine, eat fabulous food and enjoy the celebration." The vineyard ties into the bride's bouquet with clusters of tiny grapes--so sumptuously beautiful.
The carefree presentation of vintage bottles tied to the cottonwood tree at the ceremony site is a brilliant, dramatic design element which ties the colors of the event together.
During the cocktail hour on the lodge's wrap-around porch, guests are invited to enjoy a signature cocktail (notice those great monogrammed stirs), and casually find their floral-adorned place cards floating in the breeze. Adding to the country charm are baskets of fruit freshly picked from the orchards on site. The wine-cork place cards highlight a fantastic menu.
Dining, dancing (and even swinging) around the grounds is capped off with a delicate lace embossed cake so glamorous, with cookies to match. Simply divine. |
